Review: The Winner's Trilogy | BOOKCLUB

I came across the first book within the series ('The Winner's Curse') months ago when I was searching for a new romance novel on goodreads.com. I finally caved in (back in April) and thought that it was time to read it, as I was sick and had nothing better to do in bed, besides sleep.

The story is essentially about a privileged girl and servant boy coming together. Through their meeting, a series of events will happen causing for there to be many sacrifices and friendships to either be gained or lost. The romance within the series is never too much, and there is something really raw about it at the same time. The pace in which the romance develops is not with the snap of the fingers and boom the characters are together; it is instead a steady and sometimes too slow of a pace development, which is agonising to my liking. It is a book that requires the reader's patience, as being a hardcore helpless romantic like myself sometimes found it too dull at times. I think the first book within the series is the hardest one to read, as it follows the true nature of  how feelings are developed and later the acceptance of them. However, as you get more and more into the book and the series itself, there will be more drama than you thought there will be due to start of the first book. Essentially the trilogy dips into romance, but that is not the big picture. If you do not like romance and are thinking that this trilogy is like the 'Twilight Saga' or maybe  'The Selection Collection', then you are wrong. I can only say that the trilogy resemble the 'Throne of Glass' series as there is an element of romance, but its not over powering. If you have no idea what I just yapped about, then try the series out! It is not a hard read and is fairly fast to finish.

Hope you try it out,
