Take It Slow: Five Ways To De-stress


'It's called fall because everything is falling... leaves, temperature, bank account, gpa, motivation'.

I can personally say there is truth to this saying, and because of all these things are falling, we tend to get stress. Everyone goes through stress, and some people handle it better than others. So, I'm going to you some ways to feel happier, if you are going through a rough time.

1. Breathe. This is a really simple step. Breathing goes excellently alongside meditating. Take 5 minutes, close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing. Focus on your surrounding and try to ignore all those thoughts inside you head. It does not matter if you can't stay focus all the time. Let your thoughts wonder round, while you are breathing. Just make this time simply about your mind, body and soul.

2. Work out. The reason why you are feeling stress is due to the hormone called 'cortisol'. Working out can counteract this, as it releases a 'feel good' hormone called 'dopamine'.

3. Listen to music. Not those sad music which will make you sadder. Upbeat music can help you take your mind off all the negative things.

4. Talk. Sometimes talking about things that makes your stressful can help. Even if the other person listening cannot do anything about. It's nice to know that they are there for you when you are stressed out about something.

5. Smile. Such an easy thing to do. I personally do this when I feel unhappy. Strangely, this work really well, and you won't remember why you were unhappy a few seconds ago.
