Hey guys! For this month's book club, I'll be posting two posts on two different books. The reason why I really wanted to talk about this book is (1) I finished it since early September, but most importantly (2) it kinda touched me on a personal and spiritual level. I know it's probably weird as it is a fantasy genre book, but it got me really thinking about the world in general. So, I hope you guys can pick up and tell me if you have different or similar thoughts to me. Plus, I am so sad that this is a stand alone book and apparently this might be made into a movie (something I learnt whilst writing this post).

Agnieszka (The Protagonist) is one of the many people who lives in the valley near the "Wood", where evil creatures and powerful being lives. There is a Wizard known as the Dragon who protect those from the "Wood", and for an exchange of his service; one girl/young woman will have to serve him for ten years. Agnieszka is one of the few girls to fit into the selection of the Dragon's demand. However, her whole village knows that her best friend Kasia is going to be the chosen one. Suddenly for some odd reason, the dragon chose her (Agnieszka) and whist her off to his tower. Now she has to learn and come to terms why she was chosen and how she has to serve him and her people.

That is a mini plot review for you guys, and now I will reveal my thought process and how the book connected to me.

The most important part of the book to me is towards the end. I suddenly got this thought that I know why this book was written. I am not in any ways saying this is the message the author is trying to portray, but this is what I got out of the book. (Warnings: It's small spoiler) Towards the end Agnieszka starts to understand the "wood" and learns not fear it. She starts to live in the "wood" and tries to rebuild it, and befriend some of the magical beings. Whilst I was reading the chapters towards the end, somehow my mind thought of our world current situation. In the novel, the "wood" is bad because it keeps trying take the land back, and in my head it's basically mother nature taking back what was right fully hers. As soon as Agnieszka starts to understand and realise such things were happening, she was able prevent the continuation of destruction and start living peacefully within it. Bringing it back to our world, us humans, we just destroy and destroy and we don't think of consequences. Suddenly, mother nature releases a storm or tidal wave and destroy all things that human created. This books just reminds me of the reality of our world. We take and take and we think there will be no consequences. Some might argue that such phemonal existed before all the sky scrapers, but even back then we take down trees. I know why can't really do anything about, because we need buildings to house us and protect us, but we can prevent destorying mother nature in different ways such as recycling or using less carbon energy. I know it's unpreventable, but we can lessen the damage.

Okay guys... That was a ramble, but it was just my take on the book. Each individuals will have different thoughts and ideas about the novel. What I got out of this book is personal, it's my understanding of the plot, and its completely fine if you just enjoyed the book and think that it was just a great read. But if you guys have any thoughts on the book, comment down below.

I will have another book club related post next week, so see you guys soon! Plus this post was supposed to be for next week, but I accidentally lost the post for this week, so I will rewrite it and post it next week mid-week.
Bye ♥
