I literally finished these three in less than a week! (No joke) After finishing one book, it keeps getting better and better and better. And did I mentioned I love the next one more than the previous? I can literally write an essay to show how much I love this trilogy and all the feels it gives me, but I'm gonna try and keep this short.
Each book follow a story of a new protagonist. The first book follows the story of Ismae, a girl who managed to run away from her home and managed to seek refuge and sanctuary at a convent. She can either be trained at the convent to become an assassin, a handmaiden of death, or leave to managed for herself. At her arrival, she also managed to meet Sybella and Annith (the two other protagonists of the books), where the three with become close friends. Suddenly, Ismae is thrown into one of her biggest assignment yet, and ends up going to the High Court of Brittany. Grave Mercy follows her through her assignment and the development of a twisted plot that even Ismae can't even believe is possible. Will she successfully grant the convent's wishes, her god and bring mercy to those around her?
The second book, Dark Triumph, follows the story of Sybella, who has been on one of the convent's assignment for a long while, even before Ismae left for the High Court. She is waiting to seek vengeance of one of the most influence Count in the High Court of Brittany, and has an unexpected turn of events. She has been forced to leave the Count and journeys along Brittany to seek the Duchess. Will Sybella finds something more than important to her than the death of the Count? Or would her past will continue to haunt her?
Lastly, Mortal heart follows young Annith who is running away from her fate chosen by the Convent. On her journey to find her truth, she is torn between serving her god and choosing what is right for herself. To add to mix, will she be able to accept that she is more than the handmaiden of death?
Those are my summary of each plot to books, as I don't want to spoil too much. Each book is linked with one another, even though the main view is shifted due to the story being told by a different protagonist. Each girl will up evolving as their stories are being told, and they will soon learn more of their world and what is expected of them. I can't express in words how much I love this book! I was aching for the next page, the next chapter, and the next book each time I finished one. I hundred percent recommend this trilogy for anyone wanting a lil'bit of romance, some butt-kicking and some history! Plus, who doesn't want to read about a bad-ass-female kicking butts and trying to basically save their world?
Hope you enjoy the books and I'll see you next month for another book review!
