Current Products in My Skincare Routine 2016

I shall repeat myself here again. For someone with oily skin, I'm pretty good at controlling the symptoms that comes along with it. I do not have acne, but I get the occasion spots only during that time of the month and I don't have that much redness. I'm not bragging that I have good skin, as it took me awhile to get my skin to be where it is today. The only thing that I cannot seem to solve...Can you guess? It's just being oily. After an hour, I am an oil spill, and this is no joke. I have a nickname for the oiliness of my nose which I won't be naming. But I have come to the acceptance that the oils won't be going anywhere soon. If you an oily girl like me, and want to calm all those nasty symptoms, maybe you can get a few tips and try some of the product that I am loving. If you want to have a not-so-lazy-girl-skincare-routine for a cheaper price, then I think I can help you with that.

As you know, I am an advocate for having a good skincare. It is so important to take care of your skin as  it will help boast your confidence, prevents the wrinkles in your old age (hopefully) and lower the bills for your heavy courage makeup. Does that not sound fabulous? Eating healthily will of course give similar results and benefit the inside and outside, but who can resist a temptation of a chocolate cupcake? I think I am rambling to much, so let's start with from the very beginning.

Micellar Water (Night)
It is definitely a chore when you're tired, but think of it as a time to yourself. I use about 2~3 cotton rounds soaked in Garnier's Micellar Water. I been avoiding it for ages as there has been such a hype due each brand coming out with their own version of Bioderma. Reviews on this were mostly positive, so I was intrigue and ended up jumping on the bandwagon. It is definitely gentle, but if it gets into your eyes it does sting (be warned). I also noticed that it kinda foams up, but this happens only occasionally. Overall it is a wonderful product at a great price.

Cleansing Balm (Night)
This of course is optionally, but I do it so that my face wash does not strip all the moisture from my face. I am currently using my first ever cleansing balm from Lush called the Ultrablend. It does feel luxurious, but I cannot compare it to any other product as this is my first one. I like to massage it into my face and just give myself a good face massage before removing it with a warm towel. It works with waterproof makeup and prevents any last trace of makeup to linger on top of the skin, so the skin can absorb all the good stuff later.

Face wash (Morning/Night)
A gentle face wash is all you need. Nothing fancy. Just something that will clean your skin, and take out all the dirt without any stripping. Just like the cleansing balm, I like to give a good minute working the product into my skin. I am currently using a small version of Origin's Check and Balance, but I also love the Green Tea face wash from Skin's Food or my ultimate longtime face wash Deep Action Daily Pore Cleanser from Clean&Clear.

Face Masks/Exoliate (Morning/Night)
Such a dilemma. Do I do it before or after face wash? I do it both ways honestly, just depends on my mood. I am currently using the Princess of Darkness masks from Lush, which clarifies the skin, and can also works as an exfoliate. I say be careful if you have sensitive skin, as sometimes there is a burning sensation, but only in areas where the mask is pulling out the whiteheads (TMI, I Know...). Follow the instruction if you want a proper pamper, but as an exfoliate for the face, try to do it as gently as possible as it is abrasive. I say, resist the temptation of exfoliating more than twice a week.

Toner (Morning/Night)
I just use any old toner. Just something to rehydrate and balance the pH of the skin. I am currently using one from Nivea.

Serums (Morning/Night)
I have just recently brought two new item into my routine from super drug and I am loving it! Superdrug's Simply Pure Hydrating Serum is simply gorgeous. It had completely revived my skin, as my skin was looking very dull about 2 weeks ago. I use this morning and night.

Another newbie to the family is also a product from Superdrug and it's the Naturally Radiant Moisturising Facial Oil. Bare with me. I was also afraid of going near this, but many people say to fight oils with oils! (Did you see what there?) I brought it as it was on offer and there was no harm in trying it as it was a small bottle. But hold the phone! I love it! It leaves my skin feeling amazing for the next day. No lies! You may wake up a lil' bit greasy, but after washing your face, its a thumbs up! The smell is divine! And even though it recommends to do one to two drops, I can't help myself and do about four! Thumbs up from me! I only use this at night.

And now, an oldie but a goodie - Garnier's Dark Spot Corrector. I have been using this for about nearly two years, before I stopped using it about a year and half ago. I should have never let this go! You definitely see results in about 2~3 weeks and it does not leave my skin feeling tacky as it sinks in quickly. I use this twice a day, but sometimes just the one.

*In the morning I use the Hydrating Serum and Dark Spot Corrector. I use one drop of serum in my foundation if I want a less of a matte base. At Night I use the Hydrating Serum, then the Dark Spot Corrector and lastly the oil.*

Masks (Night)
I have another glorious mask which is cheap, affordable, and you don't have to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive from Japan or Korea. It's the Garnier's Moisture Bomb Mask, and it's actually surpassed my expectation for a lil'bit over a pound. The great thing about these masks is the left over serum in the packet. This can be use for a couple of more days before you need to throw it away. I use most of the leftover for my morning skincare routine, as the routine is quiet minimum compared to the night routine.

Moisturiser (Morning/Night)
In the morning I love using the Faceshop's Bamboo Gel Moisturiser (I have mentioned it before). It sinks into the skin really quickly, and it takes me a lil'bit longer to get to the extremely oily phase. I will sometimes use this at night after using the Netrogena's Hydro Boast Nourising Gel Cream. Lastly, I use Simple's Kind to Skin to lock everything in (then the bambo gel mosituriser under the eyes and brows for extra hydration). I will only add Kind to Skin in the morning if my skin is seriously dry and feels tight.

That's the end of my long skincare routine. I do not use all of these products all at once, and some are staples and some are newly brought. My main tip is - look at what your skin wants and what you are concern about, and tailor it around your needs.

Hope you enjoy one of the longest post I ever posted.

See you next week,
Bye
