First Impressions: Concealers (NARS, MAYBELLINE, COLLECTION + More! )

All images rightfully belong to their owner(s)

If you haven't checked out last week's first impressions, you can view my posts on the Ordinary skincare range and my first impressions on 9 different foundations that I've tried within the last year. If you haven't noticed, I am posting twice a week, Mondays and Fridays for my FIRST IMPRESSION month - which is this month! Today's first impressions will be on five different concealers, and they are mostly high-street/drugstore price... with the one exception.

I'll start with the one exception from the bunch, and it is from NARS. This one is a cult beauty favourite amongst many people, and it is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. Even though this concealer used to be the perfect match for my skin tone, I have lost my tan... Therefore I now use this to shape/contour my face. I cannot comment on it's as a concealer, as I found a new purpose for it. It's doing well for something it's not intended to be good at, but it works! So overall, being the only high-end concealer used for contouring, I would rate this 6/10. It gets a high mark from me as I can still feel the quality of the product, even though it's not being used for it's purpose.

Now it's all drugstore from here on end. First one up is the famous Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer. When I was at my palest, during winter/spring, I used this to highlight/cover my under-eyes. Coverage is great, but it did not blow me away. I personally think that's because of all the hype around this concealer... However, it did work... Besides the claims, the only gripe I have with this product is the fact the shade range is teeerrrrible. Maybelline, you have one of the biggest foundations shade range in the drugstore... You need to step up the concealer game! They honestly can add at least 3~4 more shades; for the extremely light, medium, tan, deeper skin tones. Honestly, I don't understand how these brand think that there is no market for other skin tones. As if everyone is fair! Okay... Rage over. Besides all that, I like the fact that it is creamy, and a little goes a long way. Overall, 5/10... Since I can only wear this at my palest... I would also like to add that I donated this to a paler friend who can't even wear this as she is too fair! Maybelline... More shades please.

Even though the Maybelline concealers shade range is shocking, it's not bad compared to other drugstore brands. The 'best' shade range in the concealers department is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer range. Remember me raging on about the Eraser Eye Concealers? Maybelline needs to add more shade into this range too. Honestly, their deep shade is not for deeper skin tones. I am medium tan to deep, depending on the time of year, and deep is basically a highlighter for under the eyes. This cannot be used as a concealer for anybody with medium skin tones and darker... Beside that,  I like that this is more salmon-y in tone as it cancels out my dark circle. This gets a 5.5/10, only because I can work with this year round. However, shade range needs to be looked at and fixed.

This next one was a complete surprise. Collection, or Collection 2000 at one point, is a brand in my mind mostly catered for those with fairer skin. Therefore, this was a complete surprise to find on the Superdrug website! The internet's most loved drugstore concealer, Collection's Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade 4, dark... Is something I can work with... Even though I was ecstatic to find this shade, it's not for darker skin tones. I would say this is a medium to medium tan at most. I honestly can only use this underneath the eyes. Although my only gripe with drugstore concealers is their shade range... This concealer is bomb! I have a small scar near my eye, and this covers it up like it didn't exist! I can see why this is highly raved about. I score this a 6/10, due to the shade range; but it's a bomb concealer for anybody who's light to medium.

And last but not least, the only drugstore concealer range with a decent amount of shades, NYX's HD Photogenic Concealer Wand. I believe many people say this is a dupe for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer - don't quote me on that. Personally, I think the NARS feels creamier (as the name suggests), whilst the NYX concealer is more liquid-y. Even though this has the a decent amount of shades, I personally don't like the undertones in the deeper shades. I think the most yellow-y tone concealer is the shade 6, and from there on out, they tend to be pinky or neutral undertones. My personal preference, I like them all to be yellow toned... But that is the only gripe I have with this concealer. I would score this 5.5/10, because they do have a great shade range, but it's nothing special. I prefer creamier concealers than this one - just personal preference.

So, that is all the concealers I have tried in the last year! Believe or not, I only managed to empty one of these concealers. Can you guess which one? Comment down below if you think you can guess. But that is all for this Monday's FIRST IMPRESSION! Come back on Friday for another First Impression post. I'll give a hint: Butterflies? or Spiders?. Comment down below if you think you know what it is!

I'll see you soon,
Bye ♥
